MUSICA IN NUMMIS. China - Germany. Johann Sebastian Bach Brass Medal, ND (2007). Shanghai Mint. CHOICE GEM UNCIRCULATED.
Diameter: 80mm; Weight: 370.62 gms. Mintage: 2,000. Obverse: Bust facing slightly right, head facing slightly left; textured pattern with leaves in background; Reverse: Stylized patterns of fiddle, pipe organ, music books, and notes. Edge: Plain. Light brown-bronze in color, with tremendous relief and dazzling allure. Includes original box and pamphlet of issue, with serial number 0843.

Generally regarded as one of the greatest composers in history, Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) was born in the German Duchy of Sachsen-Eisenach to a family of musicians. Though recognized now for works such as The Brandenburg Concertos, The Goldberg Variations, and The St Matthew Passion, as well as hundreds of cantatas both secular and sacred, he was best known contemporarily for abilities as an organist-as is alluded to by the reverse design of this medal.
