Niggl-166. Dimensions: 48mm x 72mm; Weight: 100.31 gms. By A. Lafleur. Obverse: Bust facing slightly left in frock coat; Reverse: Garlanded floral arrangement, with right side left blank for engraving. Edge: [cornucopia] BRONZE. Charming matte surfaces, with a delightful olive-brown appearance.

Born in the Electorate of Cologne, Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) displayed an immense musical aptitude from a young age, and studied under Joseph Haydn upon moving to Vienna. A crucial figure between the Classical and Romantic periods, he had a colossal output of material before being robbed of his hearing ability later in life.
