Niggl-249. Dimensions: 72mm x 90mm; Weight: 232.58 gms. By F. Stiasny. Obverse: Half-length bust left in frock coat, with arms behind back and in attitude of contemplation; Reverse: Blank. Edge: Plain. Highly engaging and sculpted, this enchanting piece comes to live with great flair. Yellow-brown surfaces, with some scattered spotting.

Born in the Electorate of Cologne, Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) displayed an immense musical aptitude from a young age, and studied under Joseph Haydn upon moving to Vienna. A crucial figure between the Classical and Romantic periods, he had a colossal output of material before being robbed of his hearing ability later in life.
