M. Volteius M.f, 78 BC. Denarius (Silver, 17 mm, 4.06 g, 6 h), Rome. Laureate head of Jupiter to right. Rev. M•VOLTEI•M•F Tetrastyle temple of Jupiter Capitolinus with closed doors; in pediment, winged thunderbolt. Babelon (Volteia) 1. Crawford 385/1. RBW 1414. Sydenham 774. A beautifully toned example with a finely detailed architectural reverse. Small die break on the obverse and with a tiny mark on the reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
