KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 17.20 g, 12 h), uncertain mint in Coele-Syria or Phoenicia. Struck under Antigonos I Monophthalmos, circa 317-301. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, head of a boar to left. Price 3575. Beautifully toned and with a lovely reverse symbol. Minor marks and the reverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, good very fine.
