KINGS OF PERGAMON. Eumenes I, 263-241 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 30 mm, 17.00 g, 12 h), Pergamon, circa 255/0-241. Laureate head of Philetairos to right. Rev. ΦΙΛΕΤΑΙΡΟΥ Athena enthroned left, resting her left elbow on shield and crowning dynastic name with a wreath held in her right hand; in background, spear; to outer left, ivy leaf; in inner left field, Α; in field to right, bow. Franke-Hirmer pl. 203, 737 V (this coin). SNG von Aulock 1357 ('Attalos I') = Westermark Group IVA, V.XXXIX/R1 (this coin). Lightly toned and with a fine pedigree. Two minor bangs on Philetairos' cheek and with a few light marks, otherwise, about extremely fine.


From the collection of Regierungsrat Dr. iur. Hans Krähenbühl, privately acquired from Bank Leu on 26 August 1970 (with a photocopy of the original invoice enclosed) and from the collection of H. von Aulock (1906-1980).
