Forces of Galba in Spain. Anonymous, 3 April-2nd half of June 68. Denarius (Silver, 17 mm, 3.25 g, 5 h), uncertain mint in Spain. Group VII. BON EVENT Head of Bonus Eventus to right, wearing braided hair. Rev. OB CIV[ES / SERVATOS] around oak wreath. BMC p. 289, *. CG 52.1 (this coin). Cohen 388. Martin 40 and pl. 3, 40 NY (same obverse die). Nicolas 37 and pl. 37 AM and 37 M (same obverse die). RIC 3. Extremely rare, one of only three known examples and the only one in private hands. Somewhat crystallized and with some scrapes on the obverse, otherwise, very fine.

From the collection of Dipl.-Ing. Christian Gollnow, ex Jacquier 41, 16 September 2016, 128.

The attribution of this coin to the Forces of Galba is secured by the appearance of Bonus Eventus on the obverse. Furthermore, the coin is part of a stylistically closely linked group that was likely crafted by the same artist (lots 1021-1024).
