ARABIA, Eastern. Oman Peninsula. Mleiha (?). Coins without patronym, mid 2nd to 1st century BCE. Obol (Silver, 11 mm, 1.00 g, 1 h), imitating Alexander 'the Great' (336-323 BCE). Stylized head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. Male figure seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and forepart of a horse in his right; to left, palm stem; to right, blundered Aramaic inscription. CCK 128 = Haerink, Abiel, 56 = van Alfen 73f (this coin, O3/R5). Potts (Suppl.) 221 ff. Beautifully toned and struck on excellent silver. Extremely fine.
