ARABIA, Eastern. Uncertain, circa 3rd-2nd centuries BCE. Obol (Silver, 8 mm, 0.70 g, 3 h), imitating Alexander 'the Great' (336-323 BCE). Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. Zeus/Shams seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; behind and below, illegible Aramaic (?) inscription. Unpublished and unique. A darkly toned and interesting piece. The obverse a bit weak, otherwise, about extremely fine.
