Roman. Julius Caesar 'Elephant' Denarius. (3.66gm, 18mm) Date: 49-48 B.C. Military mint. Obverse: Elephant advancing right, trampling on horned serpent; CAESAR in exergue. Reverse: Simpulum, sprinkler, axe (surmounted by dog's head), and priest's hat. Very Fine and Rare.
