PHILISTIA. Gaza. Ca. 5th-4th centuries BC. AR tetradrachm (23mm, 17.05, 6h). NGC XF 3/5 - 3/5. Imitating Athens Pi-style series. Head of Athena right, wearing earring, necklace, and crested Attic helmet decorated with three olive leaves and Pi-style palmette / AΘE, owl standing right, head facing; olive sprig with two leaves and berry, and crescent moon behind; zayin (Aramaic) in right field. HGC 10, 594. Gitler & Tal XI.5Ta. Well preserved example of this intriguing and rare series. Only one other example in sales archives - Triton XVII (7 January 2014), lot 399 (realized $13,000).
