Jeanne & Wenceslas gold Pieter d'Or ND (1355-1383) MS62 NGC, Louvain mint, Fr-11, Schneider-231, Delm-45. 4.05gm. +WЄnCЄLΛVS: Ƶ (retrograde): IOhΛnΛ x | x DЄI: GRΛ: BRΛB: DVCЄS (saltire and double saltire stops), half-length figure of St. Peter facing with a key in his left hand and a book in his right above quartered arms of Limburg, Brabant, and Luxembourg; all within a tressure of arches with lis on the cusps and trefoils in the spandrels / + XPC: VIИCIT: XPC: RЄGИΛT: XPC: IMPЄRΛT, cross fleurée with rosette in center. Among the highest-graded representatives of the type we have offered and near the peak of those certified, with just one MS63 ranking finer at NGC. Both faces show a near immaculate preservation over crisp, lustrous fields studded with die polish, suggesting that a finer grade might be left wanting.
