Brabant. Philippe le Bon (1433-1467) gold Cavalier d'Or ND (1434-1437) AU Details (Reverse Scratched) NGC, Brussels mint, Fr-27, Delm-63. PhS: DЄI: GRΛ: DVX: BVRG: BRΛ | B: Z: LIMBVRG, armored knight on horseback galloping right and brandishing sword; in exergue: x BRΛB x / + SIT: NOMЄN: DOMINI: BЄNЄDICTVM: ΛMЄN: (briquet), Burgundian arms superimposed on a cross fleurée. A handsome example featuring the trademark armored knight on horseback for which the denomination is named, imbued with surprisingly well-struck design elements with only scant instances of the legends being off the flan. Regardless of this and the noted scratch, the coin at hand remains a commendable representative of the type.
