João Prince Regent "Special Series" gold 4000 Reis 1816-(R) AU58 NGC, Rio de Janeiro mint, KM312, Fr-96, LMB-578. An exceptional near-Mint State example of this scarce and desirable one-year type referring to João by his full title in Latin as 'Prince Regent' (princeps regens). With a great deal of underlying luster, only a hint of light wear prevents a higher grade within a series usually encountered with conditional qualifiers. With the recent resurgence in Brazilian rarities, we expect this piece to inspire ample bidding.
