William II, Rufus (1087-1100) Penny ND (1089-1092) UNC Details (Bent) NGC, Hertford mint, Thidric as moneyer, Cross-in-Quatrefoil type, S-1259, N-852. 1.38gm. +ǷILLEM REX, crowned bust of William facing, sword held over right shoulder /ÐIDRIC ON HRTFR+, quatrefoil with pellet at each angle enclosing a cross pattee with annulet in center. By all appearances a wholly Mint State representative, limited by the absence of a slight bend as is commonly seen from these thin flans. Regardless, the piece at hand is accompanied by ample originality that lends to the piece's superior eye appeal.
