Great Britain
Charles I Crown ND (1632-1633) XF40 NGC, Tower mint (under Charles I), Harp mm, KM129, Dav-3762, S-2757, N-2194 (R), Brooker-251 (same dies). 29.50gm. Highly elusive both as a type and from this particular die pairing, the coin at hand exhibiting a far nicer strike than the example preserved in the J.G. Brooker Collection, which showed considerable striking weakness in the obverse legend and an off-center reverse. What is most intriguing however, is that the die pair (FRC XII/XVII) was missing from the Glendining's November 1978 sale of the F.R. Cooper's own collection, as well as being absent from the holdings of both Whetmore and Karon. Presently the joint-finest of the type at NGC out of just 5 certified, and a clear target for the specialist.
