Bahri Mamluk. al-Zahir Baybars I (AH 658-676 / AD 1260-1277) gold Dinar ND MS65 NGC, al-Iskandariya mint, A-880 (R), Kazan-667, cf. Balog-31. 5.64gm. A very high-quality issue for the deteriorating state of the dies, leaving some areas of flatness and clear swathes of die rust. Nevertheless, both faces are imbued with an intense luster that secures the offering's gem status. The mostly highly certified example of the type yet seen by NGC, we would note that we sold an MS62-graded specimen for $1200 in August 2019.
