Charles IV gold 8 Escudos 1808 Mo-TH XF45 NGC, Mexico City mint, cf. KM159 (this variety not recorded for the date), Cal-1657 (simply stated as inverted mintmark), Onza-Unl. Variety with Mo mintmark struck over inverted Mo mintmark. Displaying balanced evidence of circulation, with ample residual luster preserved in the reverse fields. A considerably rarer variety for the date, unpublished in either Calicó's 2004 La Onza. Only the second example we have handled, and one of only a very small number to emerge on the market in recent years.
