Republic gold 8 Escudos 1855/4 Do-CP AU58 NGC, Durango mint, KM383.3, Fr-68. A gratifying example of the type whose convex curvature yields bright satiny luster within the relatively better protected peripheries, where sharp legends create a pleasing visual border to the central designs. Though typically weakly struck in the obverse center, we note that this offering is one of only two examples of this overdate certified by NGC, and the finest of these two.
