South Peru. Republic 8 Reales 1837 CUZCO-BA MS60 NGC, Cuzco mint, KM170.1, Elizondo-179. Incuse edge lettering. A fully Mint State specimen of this conditionally challenging series, one that is rarely encountered outside of circulated designations. While some of the highpoints display minor friction defining the grade, the piece as a whole displays a wonderful, uniform argent appearance punctuated by ample mint brilliance illuminated at the turn of the wrist. Of note is a prominent strike-through found on the reverse, likely a long thread or fiber meandering across the upper-right quadrant.
