Courland. Peter Biron gold Ducat 1780 MS61 NGC, KM33, Fr-4. 3.45gm. A rare one-year type from the last duke of Courland, Peter Biron, who would eventually cede the duchy and its territory to the Russian Empire. While seen with scattered frequency at auction, rarely do specimens so fine surface. This specimen expresses deep golden fields and a reverse that faces up finer than the assigned grade would indicate and surely worthy of premium bids.
