Nero. AD 54-68. Fourrée Denarius (17mm, 2.31 g, 4h). Imitating Rome mint. Laureate head right / Pax (?) seated left on draped stool, holding olive branch and caduceus. No original of this type; cf. RIC I Nero 45 (obverse) and Vespasian RIC II.1 28 (reverse). Darkly toned, breaks in plating on both sides revealing copper core. Near VF. An unusual hybrid of a Nero obverse with a reverse of Vespasian.

From the Mercury Group Collection.
