Mexico City, Mexico, cob 8 escudos, 1714 J, "GRAT" variety with date above cross on reverse, NGC MS 63, ex-1715 Fleet. S-M30; KM-57.2; Cal-2212. 27.12 grams. Choice full crown and bold GRAT above nearly full shield (slightly off-center and very slightly doubled) with full oMJ and most of denomination VIII/IIIV (one of several diagnostic errors for this die), superb full cross-and-tressure (well centered) with parts of all four digits of date visible, nice luster all over. From the 1715 Fleet, with old photo-certificate 80006 from the salvor.
