Potosi, Bolivia, cob 8 reales, Philip IV, assayer T (mid-1620s), quadrants of cross transposed, ex-Panama hoard (ca. 1629), mounted cross-side out in heavy silver bezel with 14K gold prongs, shackle bail, and pirate-face embellishment. 45.44 grams total. Very broad flan with full but weakly struck shield and cross, bold denomination O-VIII, clear assayer, traces of clay in crevices, very thick and heavy mount.
