Constantine I. AE 3, Reduced Follis; Constantine I; 307-337 AD, Constantinople, c. 328-9 AD, Reduced Follis, 3.37g. RIC-38 note, officina A=1. Obv: CONSTANTI - NVS MAX AVG Bust draped and cuirassed r., seen from front, wearing diadem of plaques alternating with pairs of laurel leaves. Rx: CONSTANTINI - ANA DAFNE Victory seated l., head r., on cippus, holding laurel branch and palm branch and placing foot on kneeling captive, trophy above captive and shield behind him, CONS. in exergue, A in l. field. Bruun wrongly mentions this CONS. issue only in a footnote, because he thinks the pellet after the mintmark was "most likely intended for a star". But the pellet is clearly intentional, and different from a star, on our specimen and a number of others: see Lech Stepniewski\'s "Not in RIC" for further references and pictures.. EF
