Trajan. ; Trajan; 98-117 AD, Byzantium, Thrace, AE 20.5-22, 6.13g. Cf. RPC-1082 (1 spec.). Obv: [AVT NEP] TPAIANOC KAICAP [CB GEP ?AKI] Bust radiate, draped l. Rx: NEIKHC TO ? BYZANTIN [sic] Bunch of grapes hanging from branch. Only the second recorded specimen of this type for Trajan at Byzantium, and differing from the other specimen in both the abbreviation ???? rather than just ?A in the obverse legend, and the omission of E?I before NEIKHC in the reverse legend. Our coin is from Schönert-Geiss\' obverse die V31, which was also used for the illustrated specimens of RPC-1078 and 1080-1.. VG
