LUCANIA. Metapontum. Circa 330-290 BC. Nomos (Silver, 19 mm, 7.90 g, 3 h), struck under the magistrates Ap... and Atha... Head of Demeter facing, turned slightly to the right, wearing wreath of grain ears, triple pendant earrings, and necklace; in the lower right field, in very small letters, AΠ. Rev. META Barley ear with leaf to right; above leaf, bucranium; below leaf, AΘA. HN III 1584. Johnston Class C, 2.2 (same obverse die). SNG ANS 463-4 (same dies). Lightly toned, and with a lovely head of Demeter. Good very fine.
