BAKTRIA, Pre-Seleukid Era. Sophytes, circa 305-294 BC. Hemidrachm (Silver, 12 mm, 1.61 g, 6 h), uncertain mint in the Oxus Region. Male head to right, wearing crested Attic helmet decorated with a laurel wreath on the bowl and a wing on the cheek guard. Rev. ΣΩΦΥΤΟΥ Rooster standing to right; in field to left, kerykeion. Bopearachchi, Sophytes 3. HGC 12, 15. SNG ANS 25. Nicely toned. Some surface roughness, otherwise, good very fine.
