BYZANTINE SEALS. Theodoros, after 1204-14th century. Seal or Bulla (Lead, 28 mm, 30.10 g, 12 h). O A/ΓI/OC - ΘE/O/ΔΩ/POC Saint Theodore, nimbate and in military dress, standing facing, holding small cross which he places on his chest with his right hand, and sword within sheath in his left. Rev. +ΘEOCΔO/TON KYPOC CE / TΩN NYN ΠPAKTEΩN/AΘΛHTA ΘEOΔO/POC OIC ΓPAΦEI/ KPINEI metrical invocation to St. Theodore in six lines. Zacos II 786 (from the same boulloterion). A rare metric seal; complete and with an unusual depiction of St. Theodore. Contemporary bang on the obverse, otherwise, good very fine.
