IC - XC Christ standing facing on square dais, nimbate, raising his right hand in benediction and holding a Book of Gospels in his left. Rev. Iω/ ΔEC/ΠO/TH/S - O/ ΔOY/ΚΑ/C John III standing facing, wearing loros, holding a scepter surmounted by a patriarchal cross with his right hand and an akakia with his left. Zacos I, 118b var (holding a globus cruciger rather than an akakia). A very rare type, not in Zacos, Dunbarton Oaks or Istanbul. Uncleaned and with an earthen patina as found. Some slight roughness, otherwise, good very fine.
