Marriage Medal (Silver, parcel-gilt, 68 mm, 44.99 g, 12 h), attributed to the monogamist AB; partially inlaid in niello and with a raise rim. Bestaen haer trouw in echt den heemst tsamen evoecht - twee hartten die oprecht in lieftde wel vernoecht Scene of an elegantly dressed man and woman (wearing a tight lace cap) clasping their hands in marriage before a pastor; all within a large church with six bystanders; acanthus leaf border. Rev. Door hoop geloof in liefdt gesticht van deucht geleydt aen trouw verplicht in wil vereent in wensch vernoecht tot doot ons leuens acker ploecht Elaborate scene of the Virgin with the infant Christ and child John the Baptist, along with other allegorical figures; above, in clouds and rays, cupid flying left and bearing a crown; all within an ornamental border. Cf. Frederiks Vol. II 157 and 163. Extremely rare, an elegantly designed and beautifully made medal. Extremely fine.
