Crowned arms of Gouda with two lion supporters; below, band inscribed with the school motto, PER ASPERA AD ASTRA. Rev. Inscription of fourteen lines giving the name of the recipient, Isaaco Scheltus (in dative), his accomplishments, his four teachers, J. J. Slicher, R. Swanenburg, M. W. vanden Kerckhoven van Groenendyck and J. A. Smit, and the Rector, G. C. C. Vatebender. Extremely rare, and probably unique.With attractive original gilding and very well-engraved.
