JEWELRY. Ancient Greek Silver Replica. 1960s replica of an Alexander the Great tetradrachm of Tarsos. 24 mm. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin / Zeus seated left on throne, holding scepter and eagle; plow to left. Cf. Price 3018. Coin replica is attractively toned. With included loop, suspended from attractive sturdy chain with high quality clasp.

Alexander III the Great of Macedon is one of the most famous figures from ancient Greece, and his tetradrachms were the most widely circulated trade coins in the ancient world. The coin from which this replica was copied was struck in the city of Tarsos during Alexander's lifetime, and is of a fine style, a beautiful example of a masterpiece of ancient Greek art.
