JEWELRY. Ancient Greek Silver Replica. 1960s replica of a dekadrachm of Syracuse. 33 mm. Head of Arethusa facing left, wearing a wreath of reeds, triple pendant earring, and pearl necklace, surrounded by four swimming dolphins / Quadriga driven left; Nike flying right above, holding a wreath to crown the driver. With attached loop, suspended from a lovely high quality sterling silver chain.

Syracuse on the island of Sicily was the center of Greek art in the 5th century B.C. One of the most famous die engravers was Euainetos, and this is his most famous work. An authentic dekadrachm in good condition can sell for $50,000 to $150,000 or even more.
