RIC V.2 672. Near Extremely Fine; red-brown patina with a beautiful bust of Probus; a few light scratches on obverse; well centered on a broad flan.
Probus was a leading general of the Empire, successful not only militarily but for restoring its economy. He introduced viticulture in the western provinces, and was on his way to restoring the Empire to its ancient prestige when he was murdered by mutinous soldiers who resented being moved from military duties to public works.
