*Palmyrene, Palmyra (attributed to), Ae 14mm, c. 2nd-3rd cent. AD, busts of three deities, rev., Nike crowning a facing radiate bust wearing a kalathos, 1.89g, very fine, extremely rare and seemingly unrecorded. The three deities on the obverse of this coin bears some similarities to a coin type of Palmyra (as Krzyzanowska, Les Monnaies de Palmyra, Beirut, 2002, p. 173, 1). On the present coin the three deities on the obverse may represent Aglibol and Yarhibol (associated with Luna) flanking Malakbel (here radiate, as Sol) and on the reverse the facing bust wearing a kalathos is Baalshamin crowned by Nike. The coin bears traces of an Aramaic inscription below the three busts.
