Four part incuse punch with light bevelling around outer edges of small squares artificially roughened, (cf.S.4600, SNG Cop. 1546 [Pl.35], BMC 24-5 [p.330], cf.SNG Delepierre 2680-3 [Pl.73], McClean 8363, 8365 [Pl.291, 13-14], Mavrogordato 41, ACNAC Davis No. 218, [p.32, Pl.XVIII], N.Hardwick [PhD Thesis] Type 4b [p.260-265, Pl. 6, row 4 & 5, 28-35, Pl.7, row 1, 1-8, no symbol issue, for closest obverse die and for similar reverse die]). Good very fine and a very rare variety.

Ex Spink America Auction, New York, December 6-7, 1999 (lot 657 part), from a private collection formed by a pair of Polish brothers and sold by auction in New York.

An obverse die apparently not reported used on a reverse roughened without granulation as appears on many other published coins. Hardwick notes various symbols in the obverse field, this example is without such a symbol.
