Syria, Kingdom of, Antiochus VIII, (121-96 B.C.), first reign (121-114/3 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (14.65 g), Damascus mint, obv. diademed head of Antiochus VIII to right, fillet border, rev. Zeus Uranius with crescent above standing to left, holding star and sceptre, on right, BASILEWS and ANTIOCOU and to right EPIFANOUS , to left A R/HDR monograms, (cf.S.7143, SC 2322.3b, LSM [NN&M 84] No.94, SNG Spaer 2649, HGC 9, 1196e). Dark tone, light weight, field and edge knocks, otherwise nearly very fine.
