Royce McFarlane (alias William Royce Forbes), rubber worker, age 23, born Carlton, Vic; Enl.13Mar1940 under the name of William Royce Forbes, his father's name was William Charles Forbes; 18Mar1940 to 18th Infy Trg Bn; 02Apr1940 to 2/6 Bn; Emb.14Apr1940 for Middle East; 20Aug1940 to Aust HQs Palestine Guard Gaza; officially changed name to Royce McFarlane on 26Nov1940, his mother's name was Florence McFarlane; 09Apr1941 to Greece with 2/6 Bn; MIA 02Jun1941 in Greece; reported POW at Stalag XVIIIA (18A) Wolfsberg, Carinthia (southernmost Austrian state of land in the Eastern Alps) (no date); recovered by Allies in Western Europe 22May1945 and repatriated to UK 01Jun1945; RTA 08Sep1945; Disch.29Oct1945.

Royce McFarlane reported that his medals and Discharge Certificate were lost when his suitcase was stolen at South Fremantle, Western Australia in 1956. New medals were issued through Central Army Records Office in 1960.
