China Bank of China, Fuhkien 1 Dollar 1.6.1912 Pick 25e S/M#C294-30e PMG About Uncirculated 50. A portrait of the emperor Haung-ti and vignette of a hillside village grace the front of this rare note. Printed by ABNC, this issue is from the first year of the Republic of China. Amoy (Xiamen) was one of the five treaty ports open to European traders, but the trading scale it handled paled against that of the others, especially nearby Guangzhou. Thus, the Fujian issuance was considerably smaller, but because of trade usage, circulation was still heavy. There are only 8 graded examples in the PMG Population Report at the time of cataloging with this one tied for the second highest grade denoting the scarcity of this issue. Stains are noted on this issue that don't seem to detract from the overall appeal of this remarkable rarity. https://currency.ha.com/itm/world-currency/china-bank-of-china-fuhkien-1-dollar-161912-pick-25e-s-m-c294-30e-pmg-about-uncirculated-50/a/4034-26019.s?type=DA-DMC-CoinArchivesCurrency-WorldPaperMoney-4034-12112021 HID08706262019 © 2020 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
