Malaya Board of Commissioners of Currency 10 Dollars 1.1.1940 Pick 1 KNB5a PMG Very Fine 30 EPQ. The iconic and first Pick number for Malaya is an extremely popular note and the only note from the ill-fated 1940 series that can be found with some regularity. The $1 and $5 were never officially issued. The only examples in existence today either floated to shore from a shipwreck or were accidentally issued as the Japanese invaded the colony. The $10 was the only denomination that arrived safely, and was therefore issued without problem. However, its stint was interrupted by World War II, and a red variety was issued in 1945. EPQ status is seldom seen for this type.
