Siam Banque de l'Indochine, Bangkok 5 Ticals 1888 (ND1898) Pick S101p Proof PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ. Foreign bank issues from Siam are extremely rare today, as they are well over 100 years old. This stunning proof is similar in appearance to contemporary French Colonial issues, but it is differentiated by its color and by its Bangkok city-of-issue. Printed on delicate paper, this square type was prone to damage and staining, none of which is present on this stunning Gem. There is a printer notation on the back in the margin, but there are no overt cancellations or other distractions to this Proof. Of note, there are no serial numbers and no date. The first we have offered, this is also the only example graded in the PMG Population Report.
