Obverse: Armored bust of Marianne left, wearing laurel wreath and winged Phrygian cap; all within wreathed border; Reverse: TONKIN CHINE ANNAM / 1883-1885, CAU-GIAÏ / SONTAY / BAC-NINH / FOU-TCHÉOU / FORMOSE / TUYEN-QUAN / PESCADORES in seven lines; all within wreathed border. Edge: Plain, with loop for suspension attached at thet top. Highly argent and lustrous, with some burnished toning accentuating the devices.
