CHINA. Chihli (Pei Yang). 7 Mace 2 Candareens (Dollar), Year 34 (1908). Tientsin (Central) Mint. PCGS MS-64.
L&M-465; K-208; KM-Y-73.2; WS-0641. Variety with long middle tail spine and unconnected cloud. One of the finest examples of a 1908 Pei Yang Dollar extant, this type has only two specimens listed on the PCGS population report as receiving a higher grade, one at MS-64+ and one at MS-66. Impeccable mauve toning displays different levels of strength across the surface, with strong and brilliant cartwheeling luster present underneath. Exceptionally flashy, stunningly beautiful, and breathtakingly RARE for the condition, making this coin a real prize.
Estimate: $10000 - $15000
