CHINA. Chihli (Pei Yang). 7 Mace 2 Candereens (Dollar), Year 34 (1908). Tientsin (Central) Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-64.
L&M-465; K-208; KM-Y-73.2; WS-0642. Variety with long middle tail spine and connected cloud. The only example of its type certified as a specimen striking by PCGS, this resoundingly attractive and entrancing later-date "dragon Dollar" exhibits exceptionally reflective surfaces and an impeccably sharp strike. Meanwhile, the highly vibrant nature of the color palette is more than enough to dazzle any aficionado of iridescence, as the dragon side employs a delightful mix of seafoam green and cobalt, and the characters side presents more of an annular nature to its rainbow allure. It goes without saying that this offering is an IMMENSELY RARE chance to acquire what was undoubtedly a presentation issue meant for those at the highest echelons of the Qing dynasty, and the opportunity for another such item likely won't present itself again anytime soon.
