Hong Kong
British Colony. George V Proof Cent 1931 PR66 Red and Brown PCGS, KM17, cf. Prid-189 (unlisted in Proof). A truly exciting premium gem rarity that appears much scarcer than the Standard Catalog of World Coins' book value would allude to. A total of four examples have been certified to date, this being the absolute finest, and appropriately so, decorated in smooth chestnut fields that host a sensitively rendered portrait of George and framed by exceedingly sharp legends, all characteristics consistent with the Proof designation. With so few Hong Kong Proof Cents of George V extant, a total 7 for the king's 26-year reign, only two have been assigned a PR66 designation, with none finer, and anticipate fervent bidding consistent with this fact.
