Meiji Yen Year 28 (1895) MS66 PCGS, Osaka mint, KM-YA25.3, JNDA 01-10A, JC-09-10-2. A visually and technically superior gem, bound to yield endless appreciation and viewing enjoyment. It is immediately telling of the offering's conditional scarcity that only 6 examples rank finer in the combined PCGS and NGC censuses, across which over 1,400 examples have been certified to date. Pristine, glowing luster embellishes sharp obverse motifs, where peach and silver tone intermingle and overlap to produce an astounding originality and visual display. Mauve and champagne hues contrast with tangerine accents to the reverse, while the whole of the planchet, bathed in mint radiance, conveys nothing less than jewel-like quality.
