Tibet. Theocracy 2-1/2 Skar BE 15-43 (1909) MS62 Brown NGC, Dode mint, KM-Y10, YZM-624. A thoroughly remarkable and rare one-year type, and one which will bring delight to quality-minded collectors of the entire Tibetan series. The specimen at hand remains impressively well-preserved, showcasing a deep mahogany patina tinged by mottled chestnut tones, and further elevated by a fullness in strike typically lacking in this series. Generally encountered in significantly lesser tiers of certification, this near-Choice Mint State representative ranks as the sole finest between both NGC and PCGS, followed by a single other Mint State specimen in MS61 which, as luck would have it, is the following lot. Expect spirited bidding for a type we last offered in 2015 as part of the Gary Damkoehler Collection, seen in XF45 and achieving $1,613.
