Extremely Fine.

From a private English collection.

Marcus Aurelius Marius became emperor of the Gallic Empire in AD 269 following the assassination of Postumus by the Roman army at Moguntiacum (Mainz) in Germany. He had risen through the army and, in the confusion that followed Postumus' murder, was elected by the soldiers to succeed him as emperor. Based on the number of coins he issued, his reign likely lasted two or three months before Postumus' praetorian prefect Victorinus had Marius killed, most likely at Treveri, and was declared his successor.
