Probus (AD 276-282). AE proto-contorniate medallion (28mm, 21.10 gm, 6h). About VF, tooled. Rome, AD 281-282. IMP PROBV-S P F AVG, laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Probus left, seen from behind, spear pointing forward in right hand, shield in left decorated with Victory advancing left, leading the emperor who is on horseback left, right hand raised in salutation, followed by a soldier marching left / MONETA A-VG, the three Monetae standing facing, heads left, cornucopia in left hand, scales in right suspended over a pile of coins at her feet. Nomos, Auction 15 (22 October 2017), lot 287 for another example, likely from the same dies, but not hammered on edges in antiquity. Evidence of tooling, thus ineligible for encapsulation.
